This response comes amid challenging environmental and health conditions, aiming to elevate preventive awareness among local residents and empower them to protect their families.
Awareness: The First Line of Defense Leishmaniasis is a parasitic skin disease transmitted through the bite of an infected sandfly. Rural Aleppo faces continuous challenges due to environmental factors that encourage the proliferation of this insect. Consequently, the organization’s team emphasizes that awareness is the most powerful weapon against the disease. Early detection and adherence to preventive measures play a crucial role in significantly reducing infection rates and preventing existing cases from worsening.
Integrated Field Efforts The team’s action plan includes direct field visits to homes and villages in rural Aleppo, where health educators conduct interactive awareness sessions for families. These sessions focus on:
- Explaining the transmission methods of the disease and its initial symptoms.
- Providing practical tips on environmental and personal hygiene (such as using bed nets and sealing windows during the evening).
- Distributing simplified educational brochures to ensure accurate information reaches every household.
